Manchester City Fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter, which relays a claim by Sam lee, that Ferran Torres could inherit David Silva’s famed No. 21 shirt at the club.
The Spaniard has signed a five-year contract which will keep him at the Etihad Stadium until 2025 in a deal worth a reported £37m. He would have some available shirt numbers to choose from as his current number 20 shirt which he wore in Valencia is already taken by Bernardo Silva.
With David Silva leaving City, whoever takes 21 will have huge boots to fill. It might be too much pressure to place on a young player, but Torres and Silva have the Valencia connection, and it would be a huge vote of confidence in the young winger by giving him the squad number of a legend.
Sam lee, Man City correspondent for The Athletic UK claims Ferran Torres could inherit his compatriot David Silva’s famed No. 21 shirt at the club once he joins up with his new team-mates next month.
In reaction to Sam lee’s claim shared on Twitter by City Chief, Manchester City fans have expressed their thoughts and opinions.
