Manchester City are closely monitoring the contract situation of Bayern Munich attacking midfielder Jamal Musiala, as per The Sun. With just over two years remaining on his current deal at the Allianz Arena, negotiations for an extension worth £150,000 a week have been progressing slowly. Despite not impressing in Bayern’s recent 3-0 defeat to Bayer Leverkusen, his overall form for the Bundesliga champions has been excellent.
The 21-year-old has been in fine form this season, scoring 9 goals and providing 4 assists in 28 appearances for Bayern. City have reportedly sent scouts to watch Musiala in action, but they face competition from Chelsea, who are also keeping a close eye on the player. However, given Chelsea’s current struggles in the Premier League, it seems unlikely that Musiala would prefer a move back to Stamford Bridge over joining City.
Musiala is said to be keen on playing in the Premier League, but much will depend on the progression of contract talks with Bayern. Highly rated by many, including former England international Michael Owen, who praised his exceptional talent after Bayern’s victory over Galatasaray in the Champions League. Owen expressed regret that Musiala chose to represent Germany at the national level, despite previously playing for England’s youth teams.
With 25 caps for Germany and 2 goals to his name, Musiala’s future remains uncertain as talks over a contract extension continue. City will be hoping to secure his services, but they will need to fend off competition from Chelsea and possibly other clubs interested in the talented attacking midfielder.
