Former Manchester City and Arsenal midfielder Samir Nasri has expressed his preference for which of his former clubs he would like to see win the Champions League this season. Nasri, who spent six years at City and four years at Arsenal, revealed in an interview with Canal+ Foot pundit David Ginola that he would like to see City emerge victorious in the competition.

City currently hold a strong position in the Champions League after securing a 3-1 victory over FC Copenhagen in the first leg of their round of 16 tie. On the other hand, Arsenal suffered a 1-0 defeat against Porto in their recent match. Nasri’s decision to support City may not come as a surprise, considering the success he experienced during his time at the Etihad, where he won two Premier League titles among other trophies.

In terms of the favourites to win the Champions League this season, City are currently leading the pack as they aim to retain the title they won last June. Real Madrid, with 14 titles under their belt, are placed as the second favourites. Despite Arsenal’s recent setback, they are still in contention for the Champions League title, occupying the third spot among the favourites. Bayern Munich and Inter Milan complete the top 5 teams predicted to perform well in the competition.

City’s prospects in the Champions League have received a boost with the news that midfielder Kevin De Bruyne has not suffered a significant injury setback. Guardiola confirmed that De Bruyne is likely to feature in the upcoming match against Bournemouth after being rested in the previous game against Brentford. The Belgian international’s presence will be crucial for City as they aim to progress further in the competition and secure a spot in the final for the second consecutive season.
