Kevin De Bruyne is still the best midfielder in the world right now, despite his World Cup travails, according to Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold.
De Bruyne has registered 89 goals and 134 appearances for the Blues since arriving at the Etihad Stadium from German side Wolfsburg in 2015. The 31-year-old is currently fifth in the Premier League all-time assists list – 67 behind leading assister Ryan Giggs.
The midfielder has won a host of team and individual accolades during his time in England, winning the Premier League Player of the Season award on two occasions, while also winning 12 trophies with City.
Though he was unable to carry that form into the World Cup – as Belgium crashed out in the group stages – Liverpool star Alexander-Arnold still rates the Belgian as the world’s best midfielder, and claimed he’s in the top three in his position in Premier League history.
“De Bruyne is the best midfielder in the world, hands down,” the England full back told talkSPORT.
“He keeps trying to sneak into my top three Premier League midfielders ever.
“I’ve never seen someone able to create like De Bruyne does. He will go down as one of the best midfielders in ‘Prem’ history for me.”

The midfielder was one the league’s standout players last season and has carried that form into this campaign with 12 goal involvements already.
He currently sits fifth in the Premier League’s all-time assists leaderboard with his tally of 95 only bettered by Ryan Giggs, Cesc Fabregas, Wayne Rooney and Frank Lampard.
Since joining Man City from Wolfsburg in 2016, the 31-year-old has 89 goals and 134 assists from 326 games – a staggering return.
