Manchester City star Bernardo Silva has a £50million release clause in his contract but has no intention of leaving the Etihad in January, according to reports.

Bernardo Silva’s future at City has long been the subject of speculation and he has made no secret of his desire to seek a fresh challenge in the near future.

The 29-year-old once again attracted interest over the summer but decided instead to sign a new three-year deal in August.

Interest in Silva has remained during what has been another outstanding campaign for Portuguese midfielder and The Star reports that potential suitors could get their man for £50m.

However, the report provides that neither he nor City want to sanction a deal in January and he’ll stay on the Etihad for the whole season, on the very least.

The clause is thought to benefit Man City as much as Bernardo Silva himself, giving the club a fixed fee to accept instead of negotiating and potentially offloading for less money further down the line.

Any transfer away from Manchester would nearly definitely see the midfielder go abroad, with Barcelona long-time admirers.

Elsewhere, Football Insider reports that Fulham are open to selling Joao Palhinha in January transfer window but will demand between £50-60m.

Palhinha only signed a brand new five-year deal at Craven Cottage in September, following the collapse of his deadline-day move to Bayern Munich.

The German side remain interested and Fulham’s improved chances of finding a replacement in January mean they remain open to cashing in.

Arsenal and Liverpool are named in the report but Man City have also been linked with the 28-year-old in recent weeks.

Guardiola could be forced to enter the market for a midfielder in January, with Kalvin Phillips looking for more regular football elsewhere.
