Manchester City continues to impress people this season, not just the fans but also their fellow professionals. They extended their winning streak in all competitions to 10 matches with a hard-fought victory over Everton on Saturday. Sean Dyche’s side proved to be tough opponents, frustrating City with their resolute defending. However, City finally broke their resolve on the 71st minute when Erling Haaland scored a goal. The Norwegian sensation then secured the win with a second goal, brushing off a defender before slotting past Jordan Pickford.

With the three points, City briefly moved to the top of the table until Liverpool defeated Burnley a couple of hours later, but still, they have maintained pressure on the Premier League leaders.

Andros Townsend revealed that some of the Luton Town squad were watching the match before their own game against Sheffield United and reacted by saying, “A few of the boys are watching the Everton game on their phones and just after 60 minutes when we see Man City bring on Kevin De Bruyne and bring on Kyle Walker, we’re like yeah City have got this now. They’re going to switch it up and turn it up and they did exactly that.”

Despite not having the biggest squad, City still have immense strength in depth and quality over quantity. The team’s bench is worth hundreds of millions with the likes of De Bruyne, Walker, Bernardo Silva, and Jack Grealish on it because of their squad full of versatile players who are capable of filling in multiple different roles.

City doesn’t make it a point to have a large squad by any means, as they consistently use fewer players in a season than most of their Premier League rivals. Manager Pep Guardiola seems to prefer keeping his squad small and compact, picking from a core group of around 18 outfielders and supplementing that with starlets from the academy.

All of the side’s outfielders have played in a different position over the past 18 months except for Haaland and Ruben Dias. This allows City to always have strength in depth all over the park but without bloating the squad.

In conclusion, City’s recent performance and depth of their squad have earned them massive praise and admiration from both fans and professional players alike.
