Manchester City have agreed personal terms with winger Jeremy Doku, as Pep Guardiola seeks to replace thҽ departed Riyad Mahrez, according to reports.
After allowing Mahrez to sign for Al-Ahli of Saudi Arabia, Pep Guardiola is looking for a new winger and thҽ Belgian youngster has emerged as a surprise target for thҽ Citizens.
Branded as ‘electric’ by Business Upturn, the 21-year-old has 90 appearances for Rennes and has 11 goals and 10 assists to his name.
Thҽ Telegraph reported earlier this week that Doku is being ‘strongly considered’ by Guardiola following thҽ sale of Mahrez.
As per French Journalist Fabrice Hawkins, thҽ move is advanced and City would like to close thҽ deal as soon as possible.
Hawkins adds that thҽ transfer will likely be thҽ “most expensive” sale in Rennes’ history.
Thҽ Secret Scout also report that Doku and his representatives have now agreed terms with Manchester City for a summer move to thҽ Etihad Stadium, with club scouts having been monitoring thҽ Belgian winger since 2017.
Fabrizio Romano also provided an update on thҽ situation, writing on Twitter: “Manchester City are working on Jeremy Doku since beginning of August. Negotiations are already advanced on player side.”
Doku is reportedly valued by Rennes between €50m (£43.18m) and €60m (£51.82m), and consequently, personal terms aren’t anticipated to be an issue.
A complete agreement would still likely take some more time if Man City do approach Rennes for thҽ winger’s signature as thҽ club is also keeping tabs on West Ham’s Lucas Paqueta.
Manchester City are also working on a move for West Ham midfielder Lucas Paqueta, with thҽ two clubs currently in talks regarding a transfer.
City are currently negotiating with West Ham over a deal for Lucas Paqueta but are yet to submit an official offer for thҽ midfielder.
