Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims Bayern Munich have already started negotiations with Ilkay Gundogan over a potential summer switch to Bavaria.
The German international’s contract at the Etihad expires at the end of the current season and reports have emerged suggesting he could walk away for free this summer.
Gundogan has played 15 games for City’s this season and remains an important player for the Premier League champions, albeit he is not a guaranteed starter.
As per journalist Matthew Moretto, the 32-year-old is ‘highly appreciated’ by Pep Guardiola and Gundogan’s agent has ‘already started talks’ about potentially extending his stay at the Etihad.
The Italian reporter adds Gundogan won’t make a decision on his future until after the World Cup, although there has already been communication with Bayern about a possible move.
Moretto also claims that Paris Saint-Germain are ‘closely following the situation’ and Juventus have ‘asked about’ the player, but his high wages could pose a problem for the Old Lady.
The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters – here is what they had to say.
