Bernardo Silva has refused to commit his future to Manchester City beyond this summer after responding to recent Barcelona transfer links.

The 27-year-old’s long-term future at Manchester City is believed to be uncertain, having previously expressed his desire to seek pastures new.

The Spanish side are interested in a deal for the the Portuguese international, with reports suggesting Xavi has met with Silva’s agent Jorge Mendes.

Pep Guardiola was asked about a potential move to Camp Nou last week – and he simply replied: “They will have a difficult time [signing Bernardo].”

Given Barcelona’s financial situation and his reported price tag of £85million (€100m), it is not clear how they would be able to afford the City star. But that has not stopped the transfer rumours, and clearly, they have been heard far and wide.

So much so that Portuguese outlet O Jogo asked Silva about the rumours after Portugal’s win over Czech Republic on Thursday.

Silva dodged the question in his response, saying: “Unfortunately, I won’t be able to answer, because I’m at the service of the national team and super focused on the game that remains. When the season ends, we’ll see what happens.”

These Bernardo Silva’s comments were shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from Man City supporters.
