Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims Pep Guardiola personally met Paul Pogba to discuss a move to the Etihad, explaining why he wanted the player to join.
Manchester United announced on Wednesday that Pogba’s second spell at United would come to an end following the conclusion of his contract at the end of June.
With the imminent exit of Brazilian veteran Fernandinho, following his silverware-laded nine-year spell with Manchester City, Pogba was under consideration in recent weeks, with a meeting reportedly having taken place between Pep Guardiola and the Frenchman to discuss a possible move.
According to The Athletic, Pep Guardiola personally met Paul Pogba to discuss a move to Manchester City, with the Catalan coach explaining to the World Cup winner exactly why he wanted him to join his side this summer.
The Athletic goes on to further reveal that Manchester City’s sporting director Txiki Begiristain presented a ‘significant contract offer’ to Paul Pogba, that would have made him one of the club’s highest earners.
Paul Pogba considered Manchester City’s proposal, the player was unsurprisingly conscious of the media furore that would be triggered by crossing the Manchester divide, and more importantly.
The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.

“Not surprising at all specially because Pogba counts as a homegrown player. So a HG player like that on a free seems like a mad deal. One of those take a chance things.”

“Thank you God for not letting this deal go through.”

“Pogba would be a great signing but he knows very well he’s not a competitive player. He wants everything given to him and City don’t play like that. He’s not a hard worker. Lazy player with a Huge Ego. I rather see Mcatee given a chance. Atleast he’ll give his all on pitch”

“Pogba’s fumbled here. A redemption opportunity he shouldn’t have turned down.”
