Pep Guardiola has said that he and Manchester City want to keep Bernardo Silva at The Etihad amid interest from Barcelona.
Silva has three years left on his contract but has been heavily linked with a move away from the Etihad this summer.
Barcelona are interested in signing him and will make a move for the player if they sell Frenkie de Jong to Manchester United in the ongoing transfer.
Guardiola has reportedly told Silva that he would allow him to leave for Barcelona if Manchester City receive an acceptable offer for him this summer.
However, the Manchester City manager claimed that for the moment he does not see the midfielder leaving the club.
But he conceded that he would not stand in anyone’s way if they want to leave Manchester City and stressed that he does not know what could happen over the transfer window.
Guardiola said in a press conference: “As of today, I think Bernardo will continue at Man City next season. But as I always said, I don’t like to keep players that are unhappy.
“This is our intention, although I don’t like to keep players at Man City that are unhappy,” he added.
These Guardiola’s comments were shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.
