Manchester City will have to overcome Wolverhampton Wanderer in their quest to will another Premier League title and Gary O’Neil, the Wolves manager, is planning to make things difficult for Pep Guardiola and his boys as both team prepare for the weekend match.

The Sky Blues are just four games away from making history in the top division of the league. Nevertheless, a draw in any of these matches could prove to be a hindrance. Therefore, it is important that they secure all three points in their upcoming game against Wolves on Saturday.

Although O’Neil will be absent from the touchline due to his one-match touchline ban, the manager remains optimistic that his team has the potential to spring a surprise and secure a victory or draw at the Etihad Stadium.

In his post-match press conference, Gary O’Neill admitted that his touchline suspension, which was a result of his reaction after a recent loss to West Ham United, will indeed affect the upcoming Saturday match. However, he expressed confidence that it will not hinder the team’s performance.

“It will have an impact, of course, but there are things in place. I am in the changing room with the players doing all of the pre-match prep, and at half-time and at full-time. I will be in communication with the bench, have a decent view tactically of the game from where I am sat.”

Manchester City trail Arsenal by a single point in the race for the title. However, the league leaders have three remaining matches, whereas the Cityzens have four fixtures left to play, giving them an advantage over the Gunners.

“The title is on the line for them. They probably don’t feel like they can make a slip. I would have thought with Arsenal breathing down their necks they will expect to need maximum points from the games they have got left to get it done,” O’Neil said.

“We go there trying to give everything we can. Try and be as close to perfect as we can and see if we can cause an upset.”

Paul Merson Predicts Match Outcome

Wolverhampton are among the few teams who had got the better side of Manchester City this season. Gary O’Neill’s men claimed a big victory against the Cityzens back in September.

Julian Alvarez’s goal proved insufficient to salvage a draw for Pep Guardiola’s team, as an own goal by Ruben Dias and a strike by Hwang Hee-Chan sealed a 2-1 victory for Wolves.

Paul Merson believes that the result will be different this time around. He predicted a win for the Cityzens, stating that they will defeat their visitors 3-0 at the Etihad on Saturday.

“‘As for the Citizens, they will look to win all their games and regain their domestic crown, but will Erling Haaland come straight into the starting XI after recovering from his injury? 3-0,’ he said in his latest column for Sportskeeda.”
