Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims Pep Guardiola’s side are ‘scouting’ Villarreal central defender Pau Torres.
A product of the Villarreal youth setup, Torres has become a key member of the first-team setup after a loan spell away at Malaga in 2018/19.
The 25-year-old, who has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League for some time now, is one of the best defenders on show in La Liga and has established a foothold in the Spanish national team.
It was reported in April that Man City had ‘set their eyes’ on the highly-rated Spanish defender ahead of the summer transfer window.
According to the latest information from Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano via podcast here we go, Manchester City are ‘scouting’ Villarreal central defender Pau Torres, who reportedly has a release clause between €55 million and €60 million in his current contract.
A release clause makes Torres an easy target for Manchester City but that can only happen if any of our current defensive options were to leave in the summer window.
The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra, and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.

“Only way this is true is if Laporte is leaving for Barca …and I wouldn’t say that’s not happening ….”

“Only if laporte leaves obviously, also he’s said we’re looking at 1, possibly 2 midfielders, I think he said a left back too, add that on top of haaland and alvarez, there’s no way we overhaul the squad that much.”

“This surely means somebody is thinking of leaving. I’d assume Laporte or ake. Because Ake starts for most teams and Laporte is far too good to potentially be 3rd choice anywhere.”

“If Laporte wants to pack his bags, great replacement otherwise there’s literally no point.”
