Manchester City defender Aymeric Laporte is delighted that Erling Haaland will be his teammate next season and was among the first to welcome the Norwegian goal machine, joking he’s happy to not be running after him.
A statement from Manchester City on Tuesday confirmed they are securing the services of one of football’s most sought-after talents from next season onwards. Subject to personal terms, Haaland will become a Man City player on July 1st.
He could turn out to be the missing piece of an already very complete puzzle at the Etihad Stadium. Man City have lacked a focal point up front since Sergio Aguero left last year.
There will be delight all-round in the blue half of Manchester with Haaland already one of the game’s top goal-scorers, finding the net 85 times in 88 games for Dortmund.
The prospect of an assist machine like De Bruyne setting up fearsome scorer Haaland is quite astonishing. Another member of the City squad who is happy to see the Norwegian joining is defender Aymeric Laporte.
“Happy not to be running after this guy for the next couple of years. Welcome Erling,” he joked on Twitter.
Haaland will follow in the footsteps of his father Alf-Inge by representing Man City. First of all, though, he must conclude his Dortmund career.
