A selection of Manchester City fans on Twitter have reacted positively after learning that Nathan Ake has trained with the rest of the squad today.
Ake was on the subs’ bench at the weekend but Guardiola later revealed he has been suffering with a long-standing ankle problem, which meant he could not step in for Dias.
Ruben Dias is out for the rest of the season, along with John Stones and right back Kyle Walker leaving Guardiola with three fit senior defenders left: Joao Cancelo, Laporte and Oleks Zinchenko.
Speaking to the press on Tuesday afternoon, Pep Guardiola had originally stated that ‘nothing changes’ on the subject of the fitness of his Manchester City squad – suggesting that Ake would still be a doubt for Wednesday’ Premier League tie.
That almost certainly means Fernandinho will start at centre back against Wolves, although Guardiola did throw Rodri’s name into the ring as well when asked about his options.
However, the Dutch international was spotted in full first-team training on Tuesday afternoon, ahead of the club’s trip to Wolves on Wednesday night.

The defender was full of smiles as he trained with his Manchester City teammates on Tuesday afternoon, however the level of fitness currently being sustained by the former Bournemouth man remains unknown.
A few of the club’s faithful were relieved on learning that Ake is back on training after Pep Guardiola stated that the centre-back was a doubt for Wolves.
