Manchester City handed huge boost as boss Pep Guardiola is set to return to the dugout for clash with title rivals Chelsea.
The City boss was one of 21 members of the first-team group to have been forced into self-isolation.
The Catalan tested positive for coronavirus in the days before Friday’s FA Cup victory at Swindon Town and had remained away from the club’s training base.
According to Daily Mail, Pep Guardiola was back at the City Football Academy on Thursday and the Man City manager is set to be back in the dugout for the visit of Chelsea, although much of the squad’s preparations had been completed without him.
The report adds that a number of Man City players, understood to include Raheem Sterling, have returned to training and as of tonight there is no suggestion that the game vs Chelsea is under threat.
However, a separate report from The Sun reports that Some Man City first-team players who tested positive for Covid-19 last week are still in isolation, while a couple more are believed to have caught the virus.
The report also confirms Pep Guardiola is back and is expected to carry out his media duties today to give an update on the situation.
The news was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.
