Manchester City Fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter, which relays a report that claims Raheem Sterling wants assurances over his future before signing a new contract at the Etihad Stadium.
Despite being a key player during the Pep Guardiola era, Sterling has been restricted to four starts and six substitute outings in all competitions this season.
The lack of game time for the 26-year-old has led to speculation regarding his future with his current contract due to expire in 2023.
According to the Sun, Sterling is unlikely to entertain a new deal unless he would consider penning fresh terms if Guardiola assures him he is a key player.
The report claims he recently held face-to-face talks with the Spaniard and promised to ‘give his all’ in a central position after firing a blank when picked up front in the 0-0 draw against Southampton last month, with further discussions about his future ‘on hold’.
City have no plans to let the £81m-valued star(Transfermarkt) leave in January and are optimistic he will sign a new deal in due course, it adds.
Barcelona are said to be monitoring the situation, while the attacker will not be short of options in the Premier League if he requests a transfer.
In reaction to the report shared on Twitter by City Xtra, many Man City fans have expressed their thoughts and opinions.

He need to perform if he want play more. Thats the direspectful for other player that work harder to get play in the team

Needs to start on the wing and he’ll start performing again, no good playing him out of position and expecting him to be great

He should just go. Start ahead of who actually? He not currently better than any of his competitors
— Zeeke (@MrAbbanGH) October 11, 2021
Had his chances, time to move him on
— Carl Pentney (@CarlSPent) October 12, 2021
playing him out of position when he’s out of form won’t result it any positive and Pep needs to realise that, whether he plays him or not it’s his choice but he has to play on the wing

Then he needs to perform. It's simple. He's been shocking for several seasons now. His slump in club form isn't just the odd game. He loses the ball far too much. Doesn't get enough assists. And lacks goals at present.
