Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims the club is interested in signing Sergio Busquets in next summer’s transfer window.
The 33-year-old has been with Barcelona since 2005, progressing through the youth system before making his first-team debut in 2008, and he has turned out for the Catalan giants on 638 occasions.
Busquets’s current deal at Camp Nou is due to expire in June 2023, though, and he had to take a pay cut over the summer due to his team’s financial problems.
According to El Nacional, the Spain international would only leave Barcelona for a club where he knows the head coach, and the midfielder enjoyed huge success under now Man City boss Pep Guardiola at Camp Nou.
The report claims that the Citizens are interested in signing the holding midfielder and could offer him a two-year deal, which would include an additional two years at the English club’s sister outfit New York City FC.
Busquets, who is believed to be keen to end his career in the United States, has made nine appearances for Ronald Koeman’s side during the 2021-22 campaign.
In reaction to the report shared on Twitter by City Inside, many Man City fans have expressed their thoughts and opinions.

Good move if Ferna leaves and we get him for extremely cheap

Rodri and Lavia will benefit from this move… I can see him as a Fernandinho replacement for 1-2 years!

Imagine rodri learning from two of the best dms in football in Fernandinho and busquets. Would be a great move

He's 33 and is a step down from 36yo Fernandinho in all DM skills. I don't see this happening unless it's for a Free Transfer…
