‘Isn’t bad’, ‘Might have been a good deal’ – Fans reacts as Man City Offered Raheem Sterling for Barcelona wonderkid

Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims the club offered Raheem Sterling for Barcelona forward Ansu Fati this summer.

Despite their financial issues, Barcelona were active in the summer transfer market, with it thought, and likely hoped by the Catalan media, that deals could be found which would be beneficial to both clubs.

The Premier League champions and Barcelona were the subject of repeated transfer stories during the summer window involving Aymeric Laporte, Bernardo Silva and Raheem Sterling, but none of them came to fruition.

According to Sport journalist Alfredo Martinez, as translated and relayed by Sport Witness, Barcelona asked Man City for Bernardo Silva and Raheem Sterling in the summer, and offered Ousmane Dembele and Martin Braithwaite in return.

The report claims Manchester City were clear that this didn’t interest them, and instead offered Sterling for Ansu Fati, but Barca did not agree because of Fati’s ‘enormous potential’.

Given their financial problems, the report suggests that Barcelona would have only been prepared to sell Fati if they received a straight-cash offer which proved too good to turn down.

The 18-year-old, who has been sidelined with a long-term knee injury, is in contention to return to the Barcelona squad against Levante on Sunday.

In reaction to the report shared on Twitter by City Xtra, many Man City fans have expressed their thoughts and opinions.
