Pep Guardiola will leave Manchester City at the expiry of his current contract and aims to make the leap into national team management.
The Spanish coach, who has won 31 major honours to his name, took over Manchester City in the summer of 2016, and finished third in his first season in English football.
Pep Guardiola has been one of Europe’s most successful managers in the last two decades, having coached three of the greatest sides in Europe in the form of Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Manchester City.
Despite not having yet won the Champions League, Guardiola has returned 3 Premier League trophies, 4 League Cups and a FA Cup to northwest England, and has set up a dynasty of success at the Etihad.
As per Globo, however, it appears as though Guardiola has confirmed that he will not be extending his stay in Manchester beyond his current deal, which expires in 2023.
Speaking at an XP Investimentos convention, the Manchester City manager was quizzed on what his managerial future held, and the Spaniard revealed that:
“I must take a break after seven years (from Manchester City), I need to stop and see, learn from other coaches, and maybe take that path [managing a national side]. I would like to train [a team] in a Euro Cup, a Copa America, a World Cup”
These Guardiola’s comments on his future has prompt Plenty of Sky Blues to react on social media.

I know I’ve been angry at him in the past but I’ll miss him when he leaves. I just hope theres a good replacement

I’m not really surprised tbh, and I’m not unhappy about it. Ofc I love Pep and would love him to stay, do a Fergie. But he would’ve done so much for the club and I’d look forward to a new manager plus after a 7 year contract it’s understandable 🤝💙
