Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims the club looked into the possibility of signing Lionel Messi again this year prior to PSG switch from Barcelona.
Pep Guardiola’s City were the first club to be linked with Messi last year when the Argentine looked to be on his way out last year, but a move failed to materialise courtesy of Josep Maria Bartomeu.
In recent days, when it became public that Messi would be leaving Barcelona, City passed up a fleeting opportunity to sign the Argentinian, who has been officially announced as a PSG player after nearly two decades in spain..
Whether City decided not to enter the race this year because they didn’t have a chance, or they were pursuing other targets, the dream of signing Messi is finally over.
In the wake of his shocking exit, many City fans have pondered if their club made any sort of attempts to reunite Messi and Pep Guardiola in Manchester.
According to Fabrizio Romano via an interview with City Xtra, Manchester City did approach Messi’s entourage in the hopes of signing the forward at the end of April.
Romano claimed Messi camp ‘liked the opportunity’ and ‘thanked’ Manchester City, but they wanted to remain at Barcelona.
In reaction to the report, many Man City fans have expressed their thoughts and opinions.
So is Messi’s fault after all

Honestly i feel messi wanted to go to a less competitive league so that he can focus on world cup and champions league.. ligue 1 is almost in their pocket now.. i have seen him play now, he don’t put in lot of effort in matches.. we are not psg and i am proud of that ,💙#mcfc

Yeah, I’m happy that we decided to go against being jerked around by his camp. Kane is more logical and needed. I would have loved Messi more than anything but we’ve tried a bunch of times over the years from 2016 to 2021. It wasn’t meant to be and thats that.

So within a few months when he became available for free we just decided to completely do nothing and proceed with hoping that we can sign kane😐

I feel like Aguero would have been a great pull, we let him go and messi just chose a place where his former friends were
