Manchester City players Riyad Mahrez and John Stones were filmed ‘having an argument’ in the tunnel during their Champions League final defeat.
City, who were contending the first Champions League final in their history, slipped to a 1-0 defeat against Chelsea on Saturday night thanks to Kai Havertz’s strike in the first half.
Havertz managed to slip between Stones and Ruben Dias and he calmly dinked the ball round Ederson before firing home.
And footage has emerged of Mahrez and Stones appearing to take their frustrations out on each other.
In the tunnel just before the second half started, Mahrez looked to be in discussion with Stones and many believe it was about City’s defending.
The Algerian international makes a gesture towards Stones and then grabs him, appearing to tell him to ‘get tight’ on Chelsea’s attackers.
Both men continue their conversation going down the tunnel before taking up their positions on the pitch.
But it appears that Stones was making a point to the Algeria star, after Chelsea had exposed City’s right flank repeatedly in the first half – a ploy that had led directly to Kai Havertz’s ultimately decisive goal.
According to MEN, the tunnel argument between the Algerian and the English Man perhaps laid bare the tactical problem that ultimately cost Manchester City the Champions League final.
Stones was saying Chelsea had exposed City’s right side repeatedly in the first half which led to Kai Havertz scoring. Mahrez was saying Stones needed to be more aggressive as CB.
This latest update has started another conversation on Twitter, where the City faithful have been sharing their thoughts and opinions.
No time for this,no DM,no STRK,is Pep's fault.

Mahrez didn't track back we all could see. Expected lot better from him

Stones was out of position because there was no DM in front of him! It is that simple

If there was a DM, Stones should have stayed at its position

That doesn’t look like arguing at all it looks like mahrez is trying to show stones something another player did

I cnt even blame both of them.. because they wouldn't ve been in this situation if the manager had played a DM. they both care and the debate is healthy. Otherwise nothing to see here
