The option of moving the Champions League final to Portugal instead of Wembley Stadium is looking increasingly likely after talks between Uefa and the British government failed to overcome some major issues.
Despite rising Covid cases in Turkey, UEFA gave reassurances as late as last week that Istanbul would still officially be hosting the final between City and Chelsea.
The Champions League final showdown on May 29 is still likely to be moved from the Ataturk Stadium because of Turkey being added to the UK’s travel ‘red list’ last Friday but it is no longer certain that Wembley Stadium will host the fixture.
The Times reported that Wembley hosting the game “was now very much in the balance” because the government is unwilling to relax restrictions to the extent requested by UEFA.
With all the significant questions remaining over the Champions League final, some Manchester supporters left waiting for answers have been expressing their thoughts on this latest update.
