Manchester City Fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter, which relays another update on Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Braut Haaland.
The 20-year-old Norwegian, who did end up on the losing side in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final clash at the Etihad on Tuesday, tops City’s list of replacements.
City have been heavily linked with a move for the Dortmund’s striker this summer and will have to beat off competition from the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Juventus among others for his signature.
According to latest report from ESPN FC, City’s escalating wage bill is a ‘severe stumbling block’ in their attempt to sign Erling Haaland this summer.
The report says that City have broken the record for the highest wage annual wage bill in Premier League history – £351 million. And despite Sergio Aguero’s impending exit will apparently save City £250,000-a-week, his potential replacement wants twice as much.
Haaland would reportedly command a £500,000-a-week salary, given his status as the world’s most in-demand striker, with the player agent Mino Raiola has already in the process of hawking his player around Europe, trying to drive his value up.
The Borussia Dortmund striker would be a dream signing for City to replace Sergio Aguero, who is leaving the Etihad Stadium when his contract expires this summer.
It remains to be seen where Haaland will end up if he does move on from Dortmund this summer.
In reaction to the report shared on Twitter by City Xtra, Many Sky Blues who dreams of seeing Haaland at the Etihad, have been expressing their thoughts and opinions of this latest update.

Well stop signing 50 million pound players and promote Youth maybe it wouldn’t be so high 👍

Even with Aguero, Garcia and potentially Fernandinho leaving? All this 'we don't pay or want to pay massive wages' was drivel I guess.

That’s true

KDB just signed a new and improved deal, Sterling, Foden and others are looking for new deal on the back of this. Just because 2 players are leaving dosnt mean there is spare money on the wage bill.

Well, one way to stop that!

Is it? If they signed Haaland all we heard about was it was going to ruin our wage structure… now we are increasing our wage bill so that nobody can abuse the Haaland transfer to get better contracts and it’s a stumbling block now?
