Manchester City emerged winners and are into the Fourth Round of this season’s FA Cup with a great 3-0 win over Birmingham at the Etihad.
Bernardo Silva scored twice, Phil Foden once and the hosts might have gone with more than a three goal lead at the break.
City’s intensity slowed after a series of substitutions but Mahrez was unlucky to be denied by a tight offside call when he volleyed in on the hour.
The £60m wide man was praised on Twitter by City fans for his display. Much of the attack came through Mahrez and he played tremendously well with the ball at his feet. Whether on the right or dropping deep he was a constant threat.
The Algerian winger was in the thick of action whenever City charged forward and was heavily involved in opening up play for two of City’s goals while also engineering a couple of other fine openings.
In reaction, some fans of the club took to twitter voice their opinions on Riyad Mahrez’s performance, with some fans suggesting that he was playing like ‘prime Eden Hazard’
