Manchester City were unable to break down a stubborn Manchester United defence in a 0-0 draw on Saturday afternoon, with Riyad Mahrez in particular, producing a disappointing display against the Red Devil
United had a couple of half-chances, but the best opportunity fell to City after a superb move ended with Gabriel Jesus breaking towards the box, finding Kevin De Bruyne who immediately played Riyad Mahrez who just had David de Gea to beat, but his low shot was saved by the Spaniard and De Bruyne fired the loose ball over.
The 28-year-old was disappointing throughout the game on Saturday. Did not see enough of the ball against a disciplined United. He was substituted in the second-half by Pep Guardiola and replaced by Ferran Torres.
As per Manchester Evening News, the former Leicester City man picked up a 6.0 rating for his display. Mahrez had just 23 touches of the ball, which was less than goalkeeper Ederson, who had 36.

Riyad Mahrez could play another 70 games for the club, but he’ll NEVER fit the fabric of a Man City player. Big game player? Give over. 😒

Sane would’ve buried that

Riyad Mahrez should have given Man City the lead. Too often in the big games, he just doesn’t do enough to make a lasting impact.#MCFC #ManchesterDerby

Not a big game player. Just as bad today as he was v Spurs. Slows the game down, isn’t direct and all too predictable

Mahrez needs to be dropped in big games. He hasn’t got an ounce of fight or grit in him. Easy to do it against Burnley, he’s almost never done it in the big big games. Foden would have buried that in the top bin.
