Gary Neville has claimed Manchester City “look like a team that is bored” after they played out a drab 0-0 draw with Manchester United in the Premier League.
The Citizens have had a difficult start to their league campaign, and Gary Neville believes that they have regressed significantly since they blew the Premier League away in 2019.
After watching City’s uncertain form continue after the drab derby draw with Manchester United, Neville believes supporters will have been left irritated by the performance at Old Trafford.
Speaking on Sky Sports, Neville said: “There was no intent there. Whether on the pitch or from the managers to win the match.”
“That was really poor, and we shouldn’t accept that. We can say both teams played in midweek, there’s no fans, but we’ve put a lot of emphasis on the speed, thrill, risk to win in the Premier League.”
“There’s nothing in that game that tells me any of those things existed today. I’m really surprised at City, they look like a team that is bored a little bit.”
“They have got to go and win the league. Manchester City have got no other option than to win the league.
“It just was not Manchester City. It is not Pep Guardiola, it is not those players and I am not just talking about in possession, out of possession [too], they did not get to the ball quick enough.

He’s not exactly wrong but where does that put United ? It’s like they didn’t even wanna play

I completely agree with Neville. I said the same during the game. A few years ago we would have picked this United apart. It’s a bit sad we’re not doing better than this.

We haven’t won a big game in a while, can’t win at spurs, Anfield, Stamford Bridge… Work in progress but not the team we were.
