Manchester City Fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter, which relays reports that John Stones sees his future at the Etihad and is determined to prove his worth despite uncertainty over his future.
Much was expected of the Englishman when he arrived at the Etihad Stadium, but the defender failed to take his game to the next level under Guardiola.
Stones has fallen down the central defensive pecking order at City and is now behind Aymeric Laporte, Nicolas Otamendi and Eric Garcia
Pep Guardiola has preferred holding midfielder Fernandinho at centre-half at times which is an ominous sign for the former Everton defender.
City’s signing of Nathan Ake from Bournemouth, has led to growing speculation that Stones could leave this summer, but it appears the 26-year-old has no intention of leaving the Etihad anytime soon.
Writing on Instagram on Sunday, he said: “Four years ago today I signed for this amazing club! What a 4 years it’s been, 2PL, 1FA, 3EFL, 2 Community Shields, I have loved every minute and I am looking forward to my future here.”
Manchester City fans were quick to react to the hint on Twitter, with a very varied spectrum of comments towards the post.

Garcia is going and probably otamendi so he should stay atleast for next season.— Salman Khalid (@SalmanHart) August 9, 2020
Guys let’s give him a chance to prove himself, 💙💙💙he’s a great ball playing centre half with a good height n he was so imp. in our run for winning the TREBLE and the CENTURIONS.🙌🙌— Jo (@joshuahaokip11) August 10, 2020
Keep him! He can get better!— albertogoooalmez (@CmonCity10) August 9, 2020
If City are selling Eric and Ota; it would make sense to keep him. We want players that want to stay and it’s not like he is old and getting worse.— Cody Pope (@Volplayer77) August 9, 2020
At least he wants to be here. Instead of Garcia🤷♂️— Harry🥶 (@ftblharry_) August 9, 2020
