Manchester City fans wants David Silva‘s statue to be build at the Etihad stadium to honor the Blues midfielder, believed by many to be the best player in the club’s history..
David Silva nicknamed Merlin by team-mates because of his wizard-like passing abilities joined the club in June 2010 from Valencia. He quickly became a fans’ favourite and has been a key part of the most successful period in the club’s history, winning three Premier League titles, three League Cups and an FA Cup- with the Blues.
The 34-year-old playmaker, who is leaving the club at the end of the season after a decade’s outstanding service, starred with a goal and two assists as the Magpies were outclassed at the Etihad Stadium.
Guardiola said he has “never seen a player” like David Silva after his man-of-the-match display in Manchester City’s 5-0 win over Newcastle.
Does David Silva deserve a statue at Etihad Stadium?
“I don’t know,” said boss Pep Guardiola. “This club had many incredible top players. Pablo Zabaleta, Joe Hart, Vincent Kompany, Silva, Yaya You’re, Sergio Aguero, these types of guys. This group of players helped this club be where it is. After this kind of thing we name a street, a pitch.”
Guardiola confirmed Silva will return to the club for a special testimony
” He’s coming back for the farewell game for all the fans because he’s an incredible legend,” said Guardiola. “They could name a street, a field, a statue (after him) – this is not my case.
In reaction to the report shared on Twitter by Man City Xtra, City fans have expressed their thoughts and opinions
