Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter, which relays reports that the club is ready to ‘sit down and talk’ with Kevin De Bruyne at the end of the season.
From a comments he’d made during a chat with HLN, there was certainly a hint that he may consider leaving City if the Champions League ban is upheld
“We’ll wait and see what happens. Once there’s a final decision I will look at it. Two years [without Champions League football] would be long. One year is something I might be able to cope with,” De Bruyne told Belgian outlet Het Laatste Nieuws.
According to hlnsport via Sport_Witness, City are said to have been ready to sit down and talk with De Bruyne at the end of the season anyway. They see him as their star player and captain for the ‘next five years’, given David Silva’s impending exit.
The report further says the club are ‘aware they need to break their wage ceiling’ to please him, yet will try and keep things performance related.
In reaction to the report shared on Twitter by Man City Xtra, Manchester City fans have expressed their thoughts and opinions.
Just give him a million a week. It’s not hard.

Break the wage ceiling? He’s already on the best part of £250k ffs

Agreed. Should’ve been given the armband after Vinny. Easily the most vocal one on the pitch.

Keep at all costs imo

He should be paid what he’s worth. Its a 2-way street. He’s probably the best midfielder on the planet and one of the best overall footballers too.

Everything will depend about with or without UCL for the next two years as he said. If City finally is OUT for two years…really bad because he will not sign any renew or another deals. In the worst case I hope maximum is only out one year. Only like that De Bruyne will continue

“Break wage ceiling to please him” If he honestly don’t wanna be part of City they should let him go, how many times will they continue doing that🤷🏽♂️

If he stays. Bonafide city legend no if’s ands or buts on the spot. If he leaves, it’s understandable because he wants ucl at his age
