Manchester City are set to make an audacious raid on rivals Manchester United for teenager Kobbie Mainoo, according to reports.
The teenager started United’s 3-0 Carabao Cup victory over Charlton Athletic in January, marking his first of three first-team appearances for the team.
In February, Mainoo made his Premier League debut by substituting in a 3-0 victory over Leicester City, who were ultimately relegated.
The England U19 international was named the Jimmy Murphy Young Player of the Year for the previous campaign and helped the Red Devils win the FA Youth Cup in 2021–2022.
Despite the rivalry between the two clubs, Four Four Two reports that the midfielder, who is back to his best after recovering from injury, has now attracted interest from neighbours City – who wish to lure him to the Etihad.
There’s no word on whether United would even consider a proposal from one of their fiercest rivals, the report adds, and said there was no telling how much City would be willing to spend to lure him.
