Professional lip reader John Cassidy has weighed in on the fiery touchline exchange between Mohamed Salah and Pep Guardiola and he believes there was an unspecified refereeing decision under discussion between the pair.

Guardiola and Salah were filmed speaking to each other at the full-time whistle and fans have speculated as to what the two discussed. It’s unclear what Liverpool’s talismanic forward said because his mouth was covered, but Guardiola’s was not.

Professional lip reader John Cassidy has analysed their conversation and believes he knows what Guardiola said to the Liverpool forward.

Via the Mirror, Cassidy believes Guardiola said to Salah: “Have a good season, good game, you too, what’s up?”

Guardiola was then hidden behind Salah momentarily.

But when he came back into shot, Cassidy believes he added: “There’s no doubt about it, not maybe – definite. It’s definite, definite.”

City thought they’d broken the deadlock when Phil Foden slammed home following a deflection off Joe Gomez, who tried to clear the ball off the line.

The goal was then chalked off for a foul on Fabinho from Erling Haaland, as he appeared to pull the Brazilian down to the ground by his shirt.

Haaland also appeared to kick the ball out of Alisson’s hands before Foden finished – something that may have also seen the goal disallowed.

It was Salah who eventually struck the all-important winner, turning Joao Cancelo brilliantly from Alisson’s long kick before slotting the ball past the onrushing Ederson.
