Pep Guardiola is entering his ninth season as manager of Manchester City, having won six of the past seven Premier League titles. City became the first team to win four consecutive league trophies last season, making history. Guardiola has shared his thoughts on the possibility of winning a fifth consecutive title, stating that while it would be an impressive feat, his ambition lies elsewhere. Despite speculation that this may be Guardiola’s final season at City, his contract expires next summer, and he and his players are still eager to win another title.
In the previous campaign, City scored the most goals in the league and accumulated 91 points. Guardiola has admitted that breaking their own record for consecutive titles may not bring the same pleasure as winning the first one. However, the competition will drive them to aim for another successful season, even if they are not solely focused on breaking records. Despite Guardiola’s perspective on winning five titles in a row, City will still aim to make history and continue their successful run under his leadership.
