Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims Barcelona have agreed a fee of €55M plus €10M in bonuses for Ferran Torres.
Barça have been hot on the trails of the 21-year-old for quite some time now, as they sought reinforcements in the final third. Manager Xavi Hernandez had made the Spaniard his top priority owing to his versatile nature and technical qualities.
Talks over a transfer have been going on for a while, with the club director Mateu Alemany and CEO Ferran Reverter had travelled to Manchester, to try and close the deal. However the Premier League champions’ unwillingness to lower their demands was proving to be an issue.
But, now a breakthrough has been achieved between the two clubs with an agreement over a deal being finalised.
Developments on Wednesday afternoon have now indicated that a transfer for Ferran Torres is close to completion, with one report going as far as saying that an official announcement of a deal is a ‘matter of hours’ away.
According to Sam Lee via The Athletic, Ferran Torres is close to joining Barcelona for an initial fee of around £46M/€55M, that could rise due to future add-ons.
Despite speculation, no part-exchange has been part of the deal and so no Barcelona players will be heading to the Etihad.
City only signed Torres in the summer of 2020, buying him from Valencia for an initial £20.7m as he was in the last year of his contract.
The report was shared on Twitter and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters, who took to the social media platform to share their thoughts and opinions.
Here’s what City supporters had to say on Twitter about the latest update on Torres’ move to Barcelona…

Fair deal. Talented player but don’t mind losing him for the right price. Doesn’t affect our season at all
