UEFA have announced that Daniele Orsato will take charge of the Champions League Semi-Final second-leg between Manchester City and Real Madrid at Santiago Bernabéu Stadium on Wednesday night.
Pep Guardiolaâs side travel to Spain for their semi-final second leg against Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League. The Blues hold a slim 4-3 lead after an instant classic at the Etihad in the first leg.
Ahead of Wednesdayâs Champions League semi-final second-leg between Manchester City and Real Madrid, UEFA have announced that Daniele Orsato will be involved in the huge clash at the Santiago BernabĂ©u.
Who is Daniele Orsato?
Orsato, 46, is one of the most experienced referees in European football. His experience should let the game today flow as both sides look to advance to the quarter-finals.
He was born in Vicenza and has been a UEFA referee since 2010. Before becoming a referee, he was a coach.
Champions League stats
The Italian has shown an average of 4.5 yellow cards per game in the Champions League. He has refereed 41 times in Europeâs top competition and has only shown seven red cards (five double yellows and two straight reds). He has also awarded 12 penalties.
Orsato has refereed City once this season already when Pep Guardiolaâs side ran out 2-1 winners at home against Paris Saint-Germain â a game in which City sealed their place into the round-of-16.
The Italian official will referee a match involving Real Madrid in this competition for the sixth time. The last occasion was earlier this season, for the first leg of the round of 16 game against PSG at the Parc des Princes.
The full officiating crew for the game is as follows.
