Van Dijk revealed in a recent video that one of his closest friends in football is Nathan Ake, a City defender. Given their shared experiences as defenders in the Premier League and geographical proximity, it’s not surprising that they have formed a friendship.
Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has mentioned that Ake is the type of player Liverpool could benefit from having in their squad. Van Dijk’s close relationship with Ake, who has won four Premier League titles with City, suggests that he would welcome his friend joining Liverpool. The bond between the two players, both successful defenders in the English top flight, highlights the camaraderie that can exist between opponents on the field.
