Manchester City have been granted permission to play in the UEFA Champions League next season, with Pep Guardiola aiming to secure a second Champions League title with the club. The competition will have a new format for the upcoming season, with an extended group phase and a 36-team league format.
In addition to the Champions League, Manchester City will also be competing in the expanded FIFA Club World Cup in the United States. The team will be looking to defend their Premier League title and continue their success from last season, where they won the Premier League, FIFA Club World Cup, and UEFA Super Cup.
Both Manchester City and sister-club Girona FC will be participating in the Champions League next season, despite initial concerns about compliance. UEFA has approved the participation of both clubs after significant changes to the ownership, governance, and financial support of the clubs, with Girona’s shares being transferred to independent trustees until the end of the 2024/25 season.
