Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims Pep Guardiola’s side are monitoring Mason Mount’s contract situation at Chelsea as talks stall over a new deal.

The 24-year-old faces an increasingly uncertain future at Stamford Bridge after entering the final 18 months of his deal. He is yet to pen an extension with the Blues and negotiations are proving to be difficult.

With the England international yet to show any sign of putting pen to paper at Chelsea, a host of top European clubs have begun to circle his situation.

According to James Olley from ESPN, Manchester City, Liverpool and Manchester United are all monitoring the situation of Mason Mount at Chelsea.

It is highlighted that there has been ‘little progress’ over an extension in recent months for Mount at Stamford Bridge, with his existing contract set to expire at the end of next season.

As part of ongoing talks and attempts to renew the England international’s deal, it is stated that Mason Mount is also seeking a ‘significant increase’ on his existing Chelsea wage, which is estimated at being around £80,000-a-week.

However, the report reaffirm that the £71.2million-rated midfielder is not actively pushing to leave the club and talks are set to continue over a new deal.

The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.

@aXtrips: “Literally fell on my knees 😭 for the love of god Txiki don’t sign him, please🙏.”

@greenmiles55: “Nah this has to be a joke ”

@grwcee: “I’d rather give McAtee a chance ”

@KevinKunHaaland: “No way would rather take mcatee back at city”

@azzar_enjoyer: “As a loyal city fan this would be an amazing transfer”

@IFeedel: “Prefer him to Maddison if that’s the case”

@ItsLB_City: “Would be a decent Gundo replacement tbf. would have to be accepting that he wouldn’t be a starter ever.”

@CityzenAmerica: “Would be great for City honestly. A very good situation of buying low, because Chelsea need to offload players and he’s got a year left on his contract”

@joel_mcfc98: “I am not saying this to contrarian and I’d prefer Bellingham to him, but I think Mount would suit what Pep is trying to do with his 8s this season”
