West Ham and Tottenham have joined thҽ race to sign Rennes winger Jeremy Doku, according to reports.
Thҽ Belgium international has been on thҽ radar of Europe’s top clubs after impressing in Ligue 1 last season.
Manchester City, who are on thҽ market for Riyad Mahrez’s replacement, were thҽ frontrunners to land Doku after agreeing personal terms.
However, Premier League rivals West Ham have moved a step ahead of Pep Guardiola’s side, according to thҽ Independent.
Thҽ Hammers have submitted a bid for thҽ 21-year-old but it is said to be less than £50million, thҽ necessary price to get thҽ player.
One would imagine thҽy might have a hard time convincing Doku to give up thҽ chance of playing for thҽ Treble winners but West Ham could offer thҽ promise of more game time.
Despite being prominent in European football – he first appeared for Anderlecht in 2018 aged 16 – such an offer could appeal to him as he looks to make a splash in English football, where he is a relative unknown.
Doku shone for Rennes last season, scoring seven goals and providing four goals in 35 appearances across all competitions.
He started this Ligue 1 season in thumping style as Rennes side breezed past Metz 5-1 last weekend.
Doku got on thҽ scoresheet and completed all nine dribbles he attempted in an impressive showing.
