Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims the club have looked at the possibility of signing Chelsea’s Kai Havertz.

The 23-year-old has struggled for consistency since moving from Bayer Leverkusen in 2020. He did score the winner against City in the Champions League final in 2021 but hasn’t reciprocated the performance of that level very often.

Kai Havertz, whose contract at Stamford Bridge expires in the summer of 2025, was one of a number of players to have a tough year at Chelsea this past season. Nevertheless, he appears to be attracting a lot of attention this summer.

As per the Guardian, Arsenal are strong contenders to sign Chelsea forward Kai Havertz during the summer window. Real Madrid have registered their interest but could face competition now.

The report adds that Manchester City and Bayern Munich have also looked at the possibility of signing the German international.

Chelsea want as much of the £70 million they spent to bring Havertz to Stamford Bridge back. And they are not prepared to cover any of his wages to help facilitate a move.

The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.

@T0ny_Xtark: “This are the kind of joke I want to avoid. How is Havertz still pulling clubs like Real Madrid, Man City and Arsenal man?”

@RajeshThorve: “This has to be a joke.”

@thebossposh: “We don’t need him.”

@DxBruyneSZN: “£300 million from winning the treble and we are looking at this clown.”

@KCkevin_cityzen: “I have faith in anyone Pep and Txiki view as quality for their system but man, this seems like a bridge too far.”

@Sergiosboy: “Would rather Barella but Pep would turn this guy into a top player no doubt. City fans saying no to this should ask themselves if they would’ve signed KDB when he was at Chelsea….”

@StevenMcinerney: “Genuinely trust any good technical player with a good pedigree under Pep. Havertz would defo be twice the player here than there.”

@Cityzen932: “I might be the only one with this opinion, but I think he’ll ball under Pep. His time at Leverkusen was brilliant in CAM position plus we don’t do Bundesliga tax at City.”

@PRiDeiNBaTTLe87: “Maybe an unpopular opinion but I think Havertz is class just in the wrong team and position. Would love to see what he could achieve under Pep”
