Manchester City fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter which relays a report that claims Ilkay Gundogan’s agent has met Barcelona with a view to taking the midfielder to the Nou Camp in the summer.
The German international is in the final five months of his contract with Manchester City and has been heavily linked with a move to Barcelona in the recent past.
The 32-year-old midfielder has continued to remain a key part of the Manchester City squad and played the full 90 minutes in their 3-1 win at Arsenal on Wednesday night.
Gundogan has been with Manchester City for almost seven years now, having arrived in the summer of 2016 from Borussia Dortmund. The midfielder has made 284 appearances for the Premier League giants, scoring 52 goals and setting up 36 more.
He is also the club captain at the Etihad but he may well be on his way out in the summer when his current contract expires. As his deal with Man City expires at the end of the season, he’s already free to sign a pre-contract with any other club.
According to Catalan journalist Gerard Romero, Barcelona have held a meeting with the agent of Manchester City captain and midfielder Ilkay Gundogan today.

Gundogan’s agent reportedly spent all morning at the headquarters of the Catalan side, and was filmed when leaving the facilities.
Romero points out that with the player being free of his contract with Manchester City in the summer, he’s a ‘very real’ option for Barcelona.
The report was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.
@stuartistics: “This can’t happen 😭”
@pepmahrez: “He’s the most intelligent midfielder I know. He should retire there”
@eccentric_RB: “Don’t think selling Gundo and Bernardo in the same summer is a good idea. He should stay one more season.”
@AJ_CTID: “Gundogan is a City legend now, I’ll only wish him well wherever he goes. I do hope he stays though”
@isaac1k: “Should give him an extension, still so good”
@Abu___Asad: “We should keep him unless we’re sure of signing bellingham”
@DxBruyneSZN: “If he leaves then I’ll still love him regardless”
@bagotits: “If Ilkay Gundogan moves on this summer he’ll do so with the blessing of every proper City supporter. We want him to stay, but a vital player for seven seasons, and a great pro. If he decides he needs a change of scenery or a new challenge, we should respect that. He’s earned it.”
