Manchester City’s Julian Alvarez has been linked with a potential exit from the club after growing tired of his limited role in the second half of last season. Although he made the most appearances for the team in the previous season, his minutes decreased with the return of key players like Kevin De Bruyne and Erling Haaland. The form of Phil Foden as a number 10 also impacted his playing time. Atletico Madrid is reportedly interested in signing Alvarez, but it would be a difficult move due to financial constraints.
Alvarez has had a successful spell at Manchester City, making 103 appearances and contributing 36 goals and 18 assists in just two years. Atletico Madrid may only be able to sign him on loan with a mandatory purchase option, payable in installments. The club’s priority appears to be Girona striker Artem Dovbyk, making a move for Alvarez to Atletico unlikely. Other clubs, such as Paris Saint-Germain, have shown interest in the player, but City values him at around £80 million, making any potential transfer complicated.
City may be reluctant to loan Alvarez out as it may not benefit the club in the long term. Atletico’s financial situation and preference for an installment plan for the transfer fee could further complicate any potential deal. Despite interest from other clubs, including PSG, the uncertainty surrounding Alvarez’s future at City is likely to continue due to the complexities of his potential transfer.
