Football fans have responded to the news that Manchester City have agreed to terms with Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland that will make the Norwegian international the Premier League’s highest-paid player.
Pep Guardiola has been pushing for the signing of a top-class striker for a while now, and after narrowly missing out on Harry Kane last summer, City are set to make one of the biggest moves of the year to show they mean business.
Haaland has been prolific during his time at Borussia Dortmund and has emerged as a global star. Now, it looks as though he’s set to ply his trade in England for the first time.
According to Mike Keegan at the Daily Mail, Borussia Dortmund’s star striker Erling Haaland has agreed to personal terms with Manchester City for a staggering wage bill of £500,000 per week, which would make him the single highest player in the Premier League.
The report states that Haaland is expected to sign a five-year deal at the Etihad Stadium, where the Leeds-born forward will surpass Kevin De Bruyne’s wages after negotiations between City and the attacker’s camp took a major step forward this week.
Haaland will join a squad surrounded by world class players, coached by a world class manager. The team is poised to win the Premier League, and is one of the four remaining finalists for the Champions League.
Adding Haaland to the mix will surely make them favorites to win the Premier League next season, and could make them one of the strongest Premier League teams in history.
Following this development, an array of Premier League supporters have taken to Twitter to offer their opinion on the report .
It’s safe to say that the reaction on social media was certainly a mixed bag.

“Man City signing Haaland is the final nail in the coffin for a competitive England. Boring, boring, boring as Man City buy their way to winning everything. Will hardly even be a chance for another team to win one of the cups. Ruined the game.”

“Write my words down, Haaland will not work in Pep style of play. He failed with Zlatan Ibrahimović in Barcelona, Robert Lewandowski become a big goal machine after he left Bayern”

“Haaland to City then. Game over for the rest, not even Liverpool will be able to keep up with them now. Look how good they already are, soon to be + Haaland.”
