Manchester City is aiming to win their second Champions League trophy in the 2024/25 season after securing their first triumph in 2023 under the guidance of Pep Guardiola. The team, which has become a mainstay in the competition over the last decade, completed a historic treble by defeating Inter 1-0 in the final. However, during Champions League fixtures, their home stadium, the Etihad Stadium, is referred to as the ‘City of Manchester Stadium’ due to UEFA regulations prohibiting the use of commercial entity names.

The Etihad Stadium, originally known as the City of Manchester Stadium, underwent a name change in 2011 to reflect its sponsorship. UEFA allows the official name of the stadium on printed material, but commercial typefaces and colors must be adhered to. In the 2024/25 season, City have four home games under the new Champions League format and will not face the same opponent twice in the opening league phase, with the first phase extending until January.
