Sean Dyche, the manager of Everton, had some glowing things to say about Manchester City striker Erling Haaland. Haaland scored his first goals for City in their 2-0 win over Everton after returning from an ankle injury.
Dyche praised Haaland’s goalscoring abilities, emphasizing the fact that he doesn’t need many touches to make an impact on the game.
Speaking to the media after his side’s loss to City, Dyche commended Haaland’s goal-scoring technique, noting that he doesn’t need to perform fancy moves to score goals.
He expressed admiration for Haaland’s calmness and composure in front of the goal, highlighting the striker’s ability to find the back of the net with conviction and precision.
He said: “That’s why he is who he is. He doesn’t have many touches in some games but he scores and that is the key.
“I must say his finish for the first one, I have been speaking to the players recently about this, footballers scoring trendy goals – whippers, dippers, clippers. He [Haaland] doesn’t think about that. Just score a goal. That’s the trendiest thing you’ll ever do. And he showed that today, a good technique. Just smash it and don’t worry about anything else.
“The second goal Jarrad [Branthwaite] is a bit unlucky. It’s a tangle of legs, on another day you might get a foul but he [Haaland] stayed calm and slotted it in the corner. His conviction in his running to get there and he slots it in the corner. That’s why he is who he is and does what he does.”
Despite only having 26 touches of the ball in the game, Haaland was able to make a significant impact, showcasing his instinctive ability to take advantage of scoring opportunities.
With 16 goals in 18 Premier League games this season, it’s evident that Haaland possesses a natural talent for finding the back of the net.
Dyche’s admiration for Haaland is a testament to the striker’s skills and his importance to Manchester City’s success. If Haaland can continue to score goals consistently, it could be a crucial factor in City’s bid to regain the titles they won in the previous season.
Overall, Haaland’s performance has not only impressed his own club but also others in the Premier League, proving that he is a force to be reckoned with in the world of football.
His natural goalscoring abilities and instincts set him apart and make him a standout player for Manchester City.
