Pep Guardiola has coached a total of 90 players during his time at Manchester City, with 101 players coached at Barcelona and Bayern Munich combined. Danny Mills, a former City player and pundit, claims that Cole Palmer left City due to a “clash” with Guardiola over playing style. Palmer, who was named England’s Men’s Player of the Year, reportedly did not like being used as a substitute and preferred more freedom on the pitch, leading to his departure from City to Chelsea for £42.5m.
Despite initial doubts from City about Palmer, he has shown his quality at Chelsea with 31 goals and 20 assists in 54 games. Michael Brown also mentioned Palmer’s frustration at City due to a lack of playing time. While Palmer’s departure from City may have been due to disagreements with Guardiola, he has found success at Chelsea and proven his talent since leaving the Manchester club.
