Pep Guardiola has been instrumental in Manchester City’s success since joining the club in 2016, winning numerous trophies and overseeing 349 wins out of 472 games. With his contract set to expire next summer, Guardiola has been mentioned as a potential replacement for Gareth Southgate as the next England manager. Former England manager Sven-Goran Eriksson believes that Guardiola or Jurgen Klopp would be strong contenders for the role due to their knowledge of English football, players, and culture, and feels the FA should pursue either of them.

While there is speculation that the FA could hire an interim manager before approaching Guardiola in 2025 if he does not renew his contract with City, fans would likely not want to see Guardiola leave the club for the England manager position. Despite Eriksson’s endorsement of Guardiola as a potential hire, it is important for City to do their best to convince Guardiola to stay and sign a new deal with the club, given his impact and success with the team. Guardiola’s future with City remains uncertain, but his departure to become the England manager does not seem to be a popular choice among supporters.
