Plenty Of Manchester City has weighed in on the debate as to whether Everton should have been awarded a penalty against Pep Guardiola’s side on Saturday evening.
Rodri had appeared to handle the ball in the penalty area under no pressure with the game entering its final five minutes.
However, after a VAR check it was concluded there wasn’t enough evidence of whereabouts on his arm the ball hit Rodri.
Everton as well as many rival fans were left disappointed after the penalty was not given in their favour.
One rival fan fumed: “That’s genuinely one of the most ridiculous decisions I’ve seen in a long, long time That is an absolutely blatant penalty.”
“How is this not a penalty. Blatant cheating again from VAR,” another added.
While a third fumed: “The refereeing standards in this country is an absolute joke. Rodri literally got away with murder!”
“The only two people who didn’t think Rodri handled it were the ref and VAR who are both from Greater Manchester,” a fourth tweeted.
Another said it was the “most blatant handball ever”.
The Premier League clarified after the match that the VAR team did not think there was conclusive evidence that the ball hit Rodri more in the red area of the arm, than the green.
The news was shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from Man City supporters– here are some of the best responses.
