During the summer transfer window, Manchester City had several players linked with moves away from the club, including goalkeeper Stefan Ortega. However, Ortega ultimately decided to sign a one-year contract extension to stay with City until 2025/26. In a recent interview, Ortega revealed that fellow goalkeeper Scott Carson played a role in convincing him to stay, noting that the grass is not always greener on the other side.
Ortega’s decision to remain at City is seen as a positive development for the club, as he had a solid performance in the previous season, saving 20 out of 27 shots on target in nine Premier League games. His crucial save against Tottenham Hotspur was even credited with helping City win the title. Carson’s advice and Ortega’s belief that there is more to accomplish at one of the top clubs in the world were factors in his decision to stay and continue his career with Pep Guardiola’s side.
