Pep Guardiola says he will take a break from football whenever he leaves Manchester City with his contract expiring next summer.

The Spaniard is contracted at the Etihad Stadium until 2023 and could extend that, but expects to work elsewhere at some point in the future.

Since his appointment in 2016, the 51 year-old former Barcelona and Bayern Munich boss has extended his stay with the reigning Premier League Champions on two occasions, firstly in 2018 and again in 2020.

Now, in an interview with Argentine media, Guardiola says he will not jump straight back into management when his time at City does come to an end.

Speaking to Ole, he said: “I don’t know what my destiny will be in a few years. What has to happen, will happen. When I have to leave City, I’m going to leave.

“And I’ll go home and I’ll take some time. That way I don’t have the need to train anymore. Or yes. I don’t know.”

These Guardiola’s comments on his future were shared on Twitter by City Xtra and it attracted plenty of attention from the club’s supporters.
